1. Transportation of the deceased
After a loved one passes, Nirvana Funeral Services staff communicate with the family to confirm the hospital and the pickup time. A vehicle is arranged to transport the deceased to the funeral location. Families decide whether the funeral will be at home or at the funeral hall. If at home, a home-return ritual is arranged according to the family’s needs.
2. Body preparation and makeup
Upon arrival, staff will clean, dress, and apply makeup to the deceased. Female staff, known as “White Angel Caregivers,” provide full care for female deceased, ensuring dignity and empathy throughout the farewell ceremony.
3. Funeral hall setup
The funeral hall is where family and friends say their goodbyes. Setup usually includes the altar, flower wreaths, offerings, and lighting arrangements. Different religious or cultural traditions may require specific setups. Some families request personalized designs, which the team will coordinate with the client.
4. Funeral ceremony arrangements
According to local Northern Malaysia customs, funerals typically last 3 or 5 days. Ceremonies may include offerings, chanting by monks or priests, visits from relatives and friends, and the procession. Nirvana Funeral Services assists in planning the schedule so families can focus on spending time with loved ones.
Cremation or Burial Arrangements
On the final day of the funeral, after the home and public offerings are completed, the funeral procession takes place.
- Cremation: The coffin is transported to the crematorium. On the seventh day after death (commonly known as the “Qi Day”), the ashes are collected and placed into the urn, which can then be placed in a columbarium niche. The process is assisted by the Nirvana Funeral Services team and Nirvana agents.
- Burial: If a burial is chosen, the coffin is taken directly to the cemetery for the burial ceremony after the procession.
Note: If the deceased did not arrange a columbarium niche or burial plot beforehand, the family must contact a Nirvana funeral consultant during the funeral to select and reserve the niche or plot.
Nirvana Funeral Packages: What is a Life Plan?
Nirvana Life Plan (NLP) is the funeral package offered by Nirvana Funeral Services.
A Life Plan is a pre-arranged, one-stop professional funeral service contract that allows individuals to plan their own or their family’s final farewell while still alive. It lets you calmly choose the services, ceremonies, and payment options in advance, locking in current service prices and easing any concerns for your family later.
The Nirvana Life Plan includes all previously mentioned services, as well as the coffin, urn, and cremation fees. It also provides a 24-hour hotline—if any unexpected situation arises, the Nirvana Funeral team will assist the family with all necessary arrangements.
Additionally, the Life Plan covers the use of a funeral hall or the Nirvana Memorial Hall (air-conditioned hall) without extra charges. The first Nirvana Memorial Hall in Northern Malaysia will be located behind Seberang Jaya Sunway Carnival.
Types of Nirvana Life Plans in Northern Malaysia:
- NV Memory
3-day, 2-night funeral package, suitable for Christians, Catholics, Yiguandao, Soka Gakkai, or those with religious freedom. Pre-planning can save up to RM4,000 and enjoy interest-free installments for up to 36 months, with monthly payments of only RM463.
- NV Eternal
5-day, 4-night funeral package, suitable for Buddhists. Pre-planning can save up to RM8,000 and enjoy interest-free installments for up to 48 months, with monthly payments of only RM546.
- NV Zen
5-day, 4-night funeral package, suitable for Taoists. Pre-planning can save up to RM12,000 and enjoy interest-free installments for up to 60 months, with monthly payments of only RM570.
Once a package is signed, the price is locked in to protect against future inflation, and it can also be flexibly transferred for use by someone else.
Why Pre-Plan a Nirvana Funeral Package?
When Nirvana introduced the Nirvana Life Plan, many people wondered why they should plan a funeral while they are still healthy.
